2023 Review

Falkland Islands, March 2023

It is a rainy morning in Buenos Aires, and I am ready to return to publishing.

I spent the last month of 2023 redefining my definition of success and clarifying my plans for 2024.

Besides sending out my monthly Travel Newsletter and starting my weekly Substack. Which focuses on my Dyslexia and ADHD while I work on my first book. I decided to step back from posting to clear my head for the upcoming year.

I was extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to return to the ship for ten days to train my replacement as we sailed to Antarctica. It was a hard decision to leave. The allure of getting paid while traveling the world and working with some fantastic people is rough to leave, but I knew that if I wanted to complete my goal of becoming a self-employed writer, I couldn’t keep living in both worlds.

After rereading my 2022 Review, I am grateful for what the last two years have brought. I completed five contracts on the Resolution, reached all seven continents, and visited twenty new countries. I continued with my blog, though I wanted to be more productive. I added more photo sales to my revenue, completed my first free diving PADI course, and completed my second 200-hour YTT in India.

2023 has taught me much about myself and what I can build for my future. I had the opportunity to meet some fantastic people who taught me to disregard my fears and invest 100% in myself and my dreams because you only have one chance to live, and building a new life from scratch isn’t easy for anyone. Still, it is part of becoming who you want to be.

So, for 2024, I have chosen my word and theme of the year as “Becoming.” I have taken a lot of risks in my life, but this time, I am placing it 100% on myself. However, I will always have a fallback plan because I am, at the core, a type A person. I am embracing the unknown this year and looking forward to what the year has in store. While I only have till March planned, I received some exciting news the other day that might cause my 2024 schedule to fill quickly. We shall see!

I am grateful you have stuck around to see how my journey unfolds.

Thank you for reading!

I hope I have inspired you to pursue your dreams and that you’ll stick around to see how my journey turns out!

So, dear reader, what are you most grateful for in 2023? What brought you the most joy? Comment below!
