How to Make It Happen by Maria Hatzistefanis

Book 19/52

“Growth happens by doing the things you are unqualified to do.”
― Maria Hatzistefanis

Dear Fellow Reader,

Thank you so much for your continued support and for investing your time in reading my post. Your readership means a lot to me!

I am a massive fan of no-nonsense how-I-got-it-done books because my favorite way to learn is from people doing what I want to be doing, and Maria Hatzistefanis is one of my favorite authors for that.

Though I don’t think I will enter the skincare industry anytime soon, I admire Maria’s work ethic and mindset. The simple fact if you don’t give up, you can never fail is inspiring. It took Maria 18 years before she could call her company an “Overnight Success,” which led to her publishing her first book in 2017, How to Be an Overnight Success: Making It in Businesswhich became a best seller and led to her second book How to Make it Happen: Turning Failure into Success published in 2020 and her third How to Live Your Best Life: Transform your mindset and manifest real success published in 2021.

I came across Maria’s first book in 2019, and after rereading it at the beginning of the year, I found out she had published two more! So, this week, I read How to Make It Happen: Turning Failure into Success, and I loved it just as much as How to Be an Overnight Success: Making It in Business

If you look at the reviews, some people have called her vapid or unrelatable because of her no-bullshit style of writing, and while they are correct, it isn’t life-changing advice to me. I think that is why it is so great. The truth is that people don’t make it in the field that they want to be in because they give up way too soon. It took Maria 18 years for her company to finally get noticed, and with the average attention span, if people knew it would take them 18 years to reach their goals, most would give up.

I love these books; they show you the timeline for making your dreams come true. When Maria started her company, she was in her early twenties and had just been fired from her first finance job out of college, but she went for it anyway and didn’t quit. Now, she is the CEO of a multimillion-dollar company. But even after becoming an “overnight success,” Maria still had struggles in her business, which is what her second book is about.

So, if you are looking for no-nonsense inspiration, read Maria’s books; you’ll be glad you did.

Thank you for reading!
